Hello reader,
The past few weeks have left me in a frenzy, not knowing what day it is or what I’m doing that day or who I even am some days. As I write this, my home is in disarray as plumbers continue to cut various squares in our walls and reroute our plumbing through our attic. Wesley’s room is in shambles as his room has the most misshapen square holes, leaving all of his toys coated in a layer of dust that I will have to shake out later. The sound of drilling and flex pipe being woven through my walls enters my eardrums like a hallelujah chorus mixed with a screaming question of “how will I ever clean all of this dust, fix our landscaping, and repair all of these walls?”
Life clearly does not go as planned most of the time. I constantly have my expectations shot down by both the world and a God who knows better than me. But all of this reminds me that I don’t hold the reins of my life—God does. I’m trusting that there’s a bigger lesson in all of this somewhere.
This newsletter is shorter than normal because I’ve been in a state of constant chaos over the last few weeks, but I still hope that you can find some encouragement here somewhere. Maybe it’s just in the fact that you can be thankful that you aren’t having plumbing issues with your home (lol) or you’ve been reminded that our expectations are nothing compared to God’s plan. Or maybe I can make you smile by telling you that Wesley started singing along with a worship song I had playing in the car the other day.
As you walk between the pines of your faith journey, I want you to know that God is with you always. Latch onto him and stay close.
Words for Your Journey
Eternity in Our Hearts by Alicia Hamilton: One of my writer friends just released her bible study with Hosanna Revival. It’s absolutely stunning! I just received my copy a few days ago, and I’m so excited to get started reading it!
When the Honeymoon Phase Ends by Sarah Westfall for Human Together about our human tendency to romanticize things. I relate to this article because, like Sarah, I also was Resident Director and noticed the honeymoon phase wearing off for college students. I love her thoughts here as she relates this experience to other areas of life.
On The Blog
Walking in the Wilderness is my blog where I write about seasonal and present moment living, as well as looking for God’s goodness and provision in every season. I post every other Friday.
Drinking of Living Water in the Summer Season about finding God in the midst of the hot summer days.
Finding Peace in the Midst of Chaos about our recent plumbing issue and finding peace in the middle of the mess.
Thank you for reading Between the Pines. I hope you found some encouragement in these words to keep you going. May God meet you on your journey between the pines.
Talk to you soon, friend.
P.S. Did you notice the branding change? I recently rebranded and created a new logo, watermark (the thing at the top of the page on the desktop version of Substack), and cover photo. If you’re reading this via email, my email header is new too. I’m hoping that this new branding keeps this space feeling fresh and adds some extra flare! Tbh, I’ve been loving creating new things on Canva recently, and this was a fun way to work those skills.
P.P.S. What do you want to see me writing about in this space? Let me know in the comments.
